Anthocyanins, Phenolic Compounds, and Antioxidants from Extractions of Six Eucalyptus Species

The leaves of Eucalyptus have multiple biological activities such as antimicrobial, antiseptic, antioxidant, and antifungal. A Soxhlet extraction, SLE, HD were used to obtain extracts from the six species, E. globulus, oblicua, pavaflora, camaldulensis, viminalis, nitens, study their antioxidant capacity. Solvents acetone, dichloromethane, ethanol, hexane, methanol, water how polarity influences extraction yields. SLE method achieved higher or similar yields, depending on species its composition, than Soxlet at a temperature 50 °C. highest yields obtained with viminalis methanol (42.5 wt.%), phenolic content was nitens (124.17 mg GAE/g extract), anthocyanin levels hexane (5.05 CC/g extract). almost five times more globulus; therefore, it is most promising species. high compounds analysed confirm good potential these value-added compounds. Our results demonstrate that differences in extract contents depend solvents used. In addition, use will reduce residue forest, which greatly beneficial.
